BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Bekkasins high efficiency combustion is caused partly by laying the wood horizontally on the floor of the stove, thereby enabling the air to circulate only above the load; partly by its oval shape; finally by the totally airtight stove construction. The moving parts of the stove are made of cast iron, that is to say the loading hole door, the ventilation screw and the ring into which it fits. The ring surrounding the loading hole is conical and both screwed as well as riveted onto the iron top plate. The speed with which the surrounding area is heated, can be attributed to the double walled stove construction, which provides very good convection; to the choice of sheet-iron instead of cast iron, and finally to the fact that wood will burn more strongly with a sufficient supply of oxygen.

The Bekkasins pipes are fitted into each other from top to bottom ensuring that any eventual condensation remains on the inside of the pipe. We recommend the use of an insulated double walled chimney in order to prevent excessive residue. The maximum height of the Bekkasin pipes, which are single walled, can be used up to two meters from the stove.

The Bekkasin is produced in 4 sizes, the most popular model being no. 3, with a volume of 60 litres. This makes it ideal for the heating of rooms up to an area of 45 square meters.

Included on delivery are an ash shovel, a poker and a tube of polish. Additionally available are a flat hob, exhaust piping in various lengths and angles, and a variety of oval ground plates. The Bekkasin's uncomplicated design enables it to fit naturally into a wide variety of interiors.

* The Bekkasin is ideally suited to burning saw-dust and wood chippings, due to the loading holes positioned at the top of the stove.
